Werlitsch – Dreigenerationenwein 2017
Dreigenerationen = Three Generations of winemakers made wine from this vineyard planted back in 1960. Its a small vineyard, old and poor in yield. But these old vines are full of dignity & beauty, they dont give us many grapes, but super delicious ones, deep and complex in taste. In good years Ewald can fill 2 barrels, on average he can only craft 350l of wine. Different aromatic grape varieties planted together, a couple of red vines sprinkled in between (“Gemischter Satz”). Muskateller is in the lead and so we re being seduced by its sweet fragrances, its lush exotic fruit which is beautifully joined by the typical terroir notes of firestone and fresh, citrony, apple-y hints from the other grape varieties. So much taste, so much complexity, so much going on, you want to sit back for hours and smell, taste, enjoy whilst you`re fading into a daydream of good times in spring, flowers, blossoms & beauty everywhere.
